Poppy walked past number twenty-nine every day. It was different than all the other houses on the street, but Poppy just couldn’t put her finger on what it was. One, chilly winter afternoon, Poppy was walking home from school, and just like every other day she passed number twenty-nine. In the back of Poppy’s mind, she heard a voice, a mysterious voice. “ Go around to the backyard,”  it told her. Poppy knew she shouldn’t listen to the voice but she couldn’t resist it. She walked around to the back. She opened the gate, and what she saw was a nightmare.
