The monsters flowed toward her, shrouds of dark anger. She spotted her refuge less than 20 meters away and ran faster, the prospect of escape pushing her on. Finally, she arrived at the base of the tower, panting. Her breath trembled as she grasped the rain-slicked stones of the tower. Slowly and steadily, she made her way up. At the halfway point, she risked a look down. The dizzying height almost made her lose a grip, and she forced herself to look up. The climb felt endless, and she was so tired now.
