Some Bad Criminals by Zachary H

March10

It was a slow and long morning. A crew of criminals was getting ready to maybe do something bad and they didn’t even like their job. And they were really poor.

The leader, Max, was fifty-one years old and was always tired. Max’s right-hand man Joe was always energetic and made Max so mad once that he shot him with a gun. This happened a lot: the whole crew was a special species whose skin was bulletproof. But, as a trade-off, they weren’t the smartest living things. All of their parents were criminals, pirates, and murderers but there weren’t that many of them left. A lot of the others were captured or blown up to bits.

Max thought to do another bank heist, but the crew never successfully robbed a bank. All of the times before either the people behind the decks gunned them down or they got caught by the police. The crew didn’t make any money last year.

Max set course to the nearest bank even though all of the crewmates refuse to go because they have failed every time. Max then told them that this time will be different. Now that the crew agreed to go they gathered all of their weapons that are broken and can’t afford the money for extra parts to fix it. And are mostly to scare others but that never works. And a couple of bags for the cash with ten or more holes. It would take them about ten hours to get there because their ship goes very slow to conserve their fuel. So, in the meantime, they sit there and read books that are missing pages and that they have read a hundred or more times. Halfway through, everyone was done with their books, bored, and had nothing to do. Because everyone was overweight, they walked around the spaceship to waste time. But the spaceship was not clean at all. There was trash everywhere, the walls had dust so thick no dust cleaner of any type could clean it. There was no vacuum on site and there were no showers, so everyone smelt like the sewers.

However, two of the crewmates were cleaning the plasma guns and the outside guns to defend themselves if any other ships happened to come by and try to rob them or if it’s the police and they would get captured. There were two turret guns on the front and one in the back. Every turret was mostly used for sleeping and eating. It had bags of food that were a couple of days, weeks, or years old and the glass bubble was cloudy. The air was gloomy and the top of the roof was cloudy and wet. It would seem it could rain. The lights were very dim and made the inside of the spaceship look like a foggy day.

Now ten minutes to go and all of the bags and guns were ready and were by the door. The crew’s eyes were red because they didn’t go to bed in the last 10 hours because they weren’t tired, but now they all regretted it. But everyone was happy and nervous because if they successfully took any amount of cash they could eat real food instead of chips and junk food. And they could maybe fix some of the parts in the spaceship and maybe they could afford some parts for the plasma guns. The thought of this made everyone smile.

Now upbeat, and two minutes till touchdown, all of the crewmates lined up to the door, held up their guns, pulled down their masks, and grabbed her bags.

Now 10 seconds remaining till touchdown. Max and joe at the front of the group coked his gun and everyone followed.

Moments later they felt the ship land and could feel the steam coming out the door. When the door hit the ground everyone ran out and stopped. The town where the bank was had skyscrapers and hundreds of people in flying cars and spaceships flying in all directions. It was night and the lights were bright. The steam coming from the shops covered the ground while the smell of every food you could think of. Out of nowhere, Max started to yell at Joe for bringing them to a place out of their level even though max brought them to this place. But Joe just stared out in the distance, shrugging his shoulders. Max under his breath said fine and walked to where the bank was.

Swarms of people coming towards them giving max and the rest of the crew some space because of their smell and what they were wearing. Their pants were cut in half. Their shirts were baggy and very dirty. Almost every species was around them. Humans, walking and talking elephants, bears – all of which none of them knew the real species name of. Joe told Max that the bank was coming up soon and Max was very relieved. He didn’t like to be stared at and avoided. He pointed his non-working gun at the crowd for them to back away so they can start running to the bank so they don’t get caught by the police. Now in front of the bank, everyone took a deep breath and walked into the bank. The first thing max noticed was that there were lots of guards at each corner of the bank. But the lights were very bright and made everyone cover their eyes for a bit. It was very old looking inside and the carpet was ripped up and muddy footprints were everywhere. After having their vision back. The guards had put their guns down and put their hands up. This had never happened to them, ever. The customers got to their knees like they knew what to do. Evry guard looked scared even though their guns didn’t work. Max walked slowly to one of the desks, keeping an eye on the guards. The guards were shaking in fear. One person behind the desk started to bring out the cash when max came over. There was a lot of money, probably enough to get a new spaceship and new guns. Joe immediately put the cash in the bag as if he was a kid playing with a new toy. He filled up two bags to the brim and the crew started to come out. As they were heading out of the bank, many blinding lights came on them. They could see an army of soldiers surrounding each of their exits. It was game over.
